Medan Crime Alert: Woman Stabbed By Neighbor Over A Dust Dispute!

A simple dust dispute in Medan turned terrifyingly violent when a woman was stabbed by her neighbor. The shocking attack has left the community in disbelief and raised questions about escalating neighborhood conflicts.

Police have arrested the suspect, but neighbors and authorities are now calling for better awareness and conflict prevention. Read on to uncover the full story and reactions.

Brutal Stabbing In Medan Over Dust Dispute

On Saturday (28/3/2026), a shocking incident occurred in Medan, North Sumatra, when a housewife was stabbed by her own neighbor over a seemingly trivial dust dispute. The victim, Swita Sidebang (30), was attacked while sweeping in front of her brother’s house at Jalan Asrama By Pass, Medan Helvetia.

According to Medan Helvetia Police Chief Kompol Nelson Sipahutar, the assailant, identified as Jefri Fernandus Sitindaon (41), suddenly stabbed Swita multiple times, inflicting serious injuries to her chin, cheek, and arms.

Neighbors rushed to stop the attack, and Swita was immediately taken to RS Hermina Medan for emergency treatment. Police quickly apprehended the suspect, and the victim’s condition has been reported as improving.

Dust And Tension: What Led To The Attack

The stabbing stemmed from a long‑standing dispute between the two neighbors, reportedly triggered by dust from sweeping at the victim’s residence. Swita was sweeping in front of her brother’s home when dust reportedly drifted onto the neighbor’s property.

The suspect allegedly felt continuously annoyed by the dust and believed it was intentionally directed at him. He claimed similar incidents had occurred repeatedly, feeding long‑term tension between both families.

Officers noted that the feud had escalated over time, with frequent disagreements and unresolved conflict, setting a volatile backdrop just before the violent altercation took place.

Police revealed another layer to the conflict: the suspect was also reportedly disturbed by the odor from pigs kept by Swita’s brother behind their home.

The smell was cited as another source of irritation that contributed to ongoing disputes. Residents previously attempted to mediate the situation, but these efforts failed to resolve the underlying frustrations.

Investigators believe that the combination of dust and lingering livestock odor intensified tensions, culminating in the stabbing incident that left neighbors in Medan shocked.

Arrest And Police Response

Following the attack, Medan Helvetia police swiftly arrested Jefri Fernandus Sitindaon at the scene. Officers stated that the suspect did not resist during his apprehension.

Police are continuing to investigate the case and gather evidence, including witness testimonies to build a strong legal case against the suspect.

Authorities emphasize the need for calm and cooperation among residents to prevent neighborhood disputes from escalating into violent confrontations.

Community Reaction And Healing

Local residents expressed surprise and concern over the bizarre cause of the violence. Many find it hard to believe that a cleaning chore would escalate to a deadly attack.

Friends and family of Swita have been visiting her at the hospital. Relieved to hear that her condition is improving after multiple stab wounds.

Community leaders now urge neighbors to communicate more respectfully and seek peaceful resolution before conflicts grow out of control. Stressing that no civilian dispute should ever end in violence.
