David Lynch, the writer-director whose films and TV series including Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks portrayed a seemingly bucolic America, only to reveal it as teeming with the mysterious and macabre, has died. He was 78.

Lynch’s death was announced on his Facebook page:

“It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ … It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.”

In August, he revealed that he was suffering from emphysema after many years of smoking and that he couldn’t leave home for fear that he would get Covid-19.

The former daytime talk show host, who has been under a guardianship since 2022 and was last year diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, said, “I feel like I’m in prison.”

“I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying? But I feel like I’m in prison,” she added. “I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s … There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.”

A member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Uecker was a popular play-by-play man for his hometown Milwaukee Brewers since 1971, and it was the team that announced his death.

Richard Jenkins has joined the cast of the upcoming HBO limited series “Dtf St. Louis,” Variety has learned.

Jenkins will appear in the series alongside previously announced leads Jason Bateman, David Harbour, and Linda Cardellini. The show was picked up for seven episodes at HBO back in November and is now in pre-production.

The story broke on Sunday on the TF1 show “Sept à huit,” which aired the testimony of Anne, a French interior decorator who described how she had been scammed by a fake Brad Pitt, with whom she thought she was having a long-distance romance for a year.

The hoax started when Anne, who was then married with a wealthy man (described in French media as a millionaire), was vacationing with her children in Tignes, in the French Alps, and downloaded Instagram to post pics of her ski trip. The scammer first pretended to be Pitt’s mother and told her “that her son needed someone like me,” Anne said in the TF1 show. Ronnie Yeskel, casting director of “Pulp Fiction,” “Reservoir Dogs” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” died on Jan. 4 at The Motion Picture & Television Fund Retirement Home in Woodland Hills after an extended battle with cancer, AMPAS Governor Richard Hicks confirmed. She was 76.

Yeskel’s career in casting spanned more than three decades, including work across film and television. Her collaborations with Quentin Tarantino included “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs,” with other ’90s film credits including “Bean,” “The Long Kiss Goodnight,” and “Hope Floats.” In the early 2000s, Yeskel’s work included “Blade Trinity,” “Orphan” and casting Kieran Culkin in his first lead role in “Igby Goes Down.”

It’s looking more likely that you won’t have to worry about saying goodbye to TikTok this weekend as Joe Biden‘s administration does not plan on enforcing a ban.

A law was passed last year requiring that TikTok’s parent company ByteDance sell the app to a non-Chinese company by January 19, 2025, or it would face a nationwide ban.

It was believed that people who had already downloaded TikTok would still be able to access it after the ban went into effect. However, a recent report suggested that the app might even be totally taken offline and rendered unusable.

Instead of banning the app on Sunday, the Biden administration has other plans.

Nle Choppa and Imagine Dragons are teaming up.

The 22-year-old rap superstar and the rock band joined forces for “Dare U,” out on Thursday (January 16), a groundbreaking collaboration which marks Choppa‘s first effort in the rock/alternative music space.

The defiant track is described in a release as “a battle cry for the bold,” and features an anthemic hook from Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds: “Dare u, dare u, say it to my face.”

20 music stars have been confirmed for the lineup of the upcoming FireAid benefit concert, which will take place live in Los Angeles and be streamed around the world.

The event on Thursday, January 30 will raise money for rebuilding communities devastated by wildfires and supporting efforts to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California.

It was originally announced that FireAid would take place at the new venue Intuit Dome, but demand from both fans and artists wanting to perform has led to Kia Forum being added as an additional venue.

Lineups for each venue have not yet been revealed, but we know 20 artists who will be hitting the stage. Tickets for both concerts go on-sale starting Wednesday, January 22, at Noon Pt through Ticketmaster.

Justin Baldoni is revealing early emails with Colleen Hoover, the author of It Ends With Us.

In the legal docs filed on Thursday (January 16) against co-star Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Justin lays out screenshots of exchanges with the author, who ultimately came forward in support of Blake after the actress filed her legal complaint against Justin.

“In 2019 Wayfarer acquired the film rights to It Ends With Us, a Colleen Hoover novel published in 2016. Though positioned as a romance novel, the book explores themes of domestic violence and generational patterns of abuse, and these messages resonated deeply with readers and drew a passionate fanbase,” the suit reads.

“In 2021, the novel exploded in popularity thanks to the social media phenomenon ‘BookTok.’ Many fans expressed how important the book was to them as survivors of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse,” the suit continues.

We pulled together some of the biggest allegations from Justin Baldoni‘s lawsuit against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and others.

On Tuesday (January 16), the actor and director, along with his company Wayfarer Studios, filed a federal lawsuit accusing Blake and her publicist of orchestrating a smear campaign against himself to take control of his movie It Ends With Us.

He and others involved with the lawsuit are seeking at least $400,000 in damages and are requesting a trial.

The lawsuit follows one that she filed in late 2024. In it, she accused Justin of sexual harassment and more.

Justin‘s lawsuit responded to many of Blake‘s allegations and laid out some of his own. He even provided two theories about why Blake behaved the way that she did on set and after and a theory for how she obtained copies of private text messages, which were included in her original lawsuit.

Murder in a Small Town is getting a second season.

Fox confirmed a second season of the crime drama, based on the Karl Alberg series of novels by L.R. Wright.

This is Fox’s first renewal of live-action scripted TV show for the 2025-26 season, via THR.

Season 1 came to an end in November.
